Breast Health

Caring for the breasts is a must for every woman. Equal importance should be given to taking care of your breasts and should not depend on its size, no matter how large or small it is. Doing this can do significant wonders for you and your rack.

There are some ways by which you can take good care of your breasts. Wearing a well-fitted bra is important because it helps support the weight of your breasts and keeps it in shape. A bra that is too tight, or wearing none at all may affect the form of your breasts, causing it to sag.

However, the shape and form of your breasts do not stay that way forever. Aging and having a baby can change the shape of a woman’s breasts. Fortunately, there are many good bras available that provide adequate lift and support to it. Other women also undergo different types of breast augmentation procedures.

Breast augmentation is performed among women who want to make their breasts appear fuller or change the look of their breasts that had been affected with physical changes due to childbirth, breastfeeding or aging. One of the most popular ways to enhance the shape and size of breasts is by breast implant surgery. It comes in either silicone or saline options. Silicone breast implants were reintroduced into the market after it was removed in 1992. These are soft and have a natural shape and feel but may cause breast infection among women with silicone implants. Saline breast implants, on the other hand, can easily dissolve in the body when rupturing occurs but can cause ripples to the skin. Moreover, no evidence has been seen yet that breast implants, whether silicone or saline, can cause breast cancer.

While breast implants and other types of breast enhancements may be the answer to address the problem of women who do not feel happy about their rather small breast size that nature has given them, there are some who feel the same about their large breasts as well. Some even undergo breast reduction surgery. Results in a breast reduction surgery are usually very successful and have gained positive feedback from majority of patients who have undergone breast reduction. However, it can also cause possible complications such as loss of nipple and breast sensation, breast asymmetry and permanent scarring.

Both breast augmentation and breast reduction may not be suitable for all women. It is also important that you consult a qualified and licensed surgeon that has a high expertise in breast surgery.

But more than being concerned about the size, shape or look of your breasts, the most important thing that you always need to consider is your breast health. With breast cancer as one of the most common types of cancer affecting women and even men worldwide, good breast cancer awareness and early detection of its symptoms are still key ways to prevent or cure it.

There are many ways by which you can beat breast cancer. Take a breast self-examination a week prior to and after your period, where your breasts are not tender or swollen. Check for any lumps, puckering, change in color or deformity on each side of the breast, as these could be symptoms of breast cancer. Not all lumps though, are cancerous. However, it would be best to check with your doctor if you experience any breast abnormality. Women under forty years old should consider getting a mammogram as well as breast ultrasound to spot the presence of abnormal breast tissues. Moreover, a healthy diet and regular exercise can lower your risk of getting breast cancer.

Nobody knows your breasts better than you do. So take full responsibility and control of your body early on, before it is too late.
